MBA in Business Analytics, Class of 2020
Somesh Kumar Sahu has gone a long way with his proactive attitude in achieving higher education and career goals. Before enrolling in the RACE, REVA University program, he worked in the industry for more than twenty years.
Being an MBA in Business Analytics program participant helped him to learn and develop partnerships with mentors who are from different backgrounds and unique personality types. Somesh believes that trust is an essential component of every human relationship. According to him, the mentors of RACE are trustworthy in terms of experience and knowledge. During his learning journey, he understood that by following their opinions, he could move forward and achieve his career goals.
The association with the mentors enabled him to take up both successes and failures in the same spirit. Somesh was always open to learning from others, which proved beneficial for him as he has achieved the wisdom and knowledge from the experiences shared by them. As a program participant, he has learned a lot from his peers during the classroom sessions, both at a formal and informal level.
During the MBA In Business Analytics program, he has been promoted as a Senior Program Manager from the position of Program Manager at Fosfor (L &T). After the completion of the postgraduate program, he has been promoted as the Associate Principal at Fosfor (L &T), which is the result of his acquired skills and knowledge relevant to the industry.
Somesh has been selected as the Student of the Year-2021 for his exceptional performance in academics. As a program participant, he presented his first academic paper at IIM Bangalore under the guidance of his mentors.
He stated, “I was on a career break and looking for better opportunities when I joined the course. Immediately after joining the MBA in Business Analytics program, I was selected by an organization and my career started flourishing. This would not have been possible without the motivation of Dr. Shinu and the
RACE team. During the final year of the program, I got an opportunity that involved transitioning from a non-AI project to an AI project with significant responsibilities and roles. My mentors and RACE helped me take advantage of this opportunity. Dr. Shinu’s inspiration and feedback enabled me to complete my capstone projects on time. Thank you to all my mentors, Dr. Shinu, Dr. Simha (JBS), Pradeepta Mishra, Prahalad, Mithun, Ratnakar Pandey (RP), Phani, and many more who inspired me to achieve and grow”.
Somesh’s advice to the juniors, “Moments in life sound like chords on a mandolin and they are always abundant in life. As postgraduate students and working professionals, our situation is completely reversed. Each Saturday is a fresh start and an opportunity to learn something new. ‘RACE’ is only a motion; progress comes from the learning journey. Enjoy every moment of your life at RACE to the fullest as it will not return. What counts in the present is what counts in the future. The ‘journey’ begins as a junior and continues as a senior and ends as an alumnus.”
