Gnanapriya Chidambaranathan

Gnanapriya Chidambaranathan, Associate Vice President, Unit Technology Officer, Infosys Private Limited., has been instrumental in establishing the ‘Technology and Architecture’ practice for the ECS unit in Infosys. With 28+ years of experience in Telecom & IT, she contributes to unit strategy and drives technology adoption for business solutions across varied programs globally.

She has co-authored a book on Digital Signal Processing I and II editions published by McGraw Hill International edition and translated to Mandarin. She is also a speaker in multiple industry and technology forums.

Leadership Roles

Priya has established the ‘Technology and Architecture’ practice for the ECS unit. The practice plays a key role in varied technology transformation, modernization, and Greenfield implementation programs and also provides Enterprise Architecture and Technology consulting services to the clients.

She also plays a key role in 5G ecosystem integration in collaboration with varied industry units and contributes to Digital, Cloud, 5G, Open-Source drives at the organization level. She also initiated collaborations with technology partners to build joint technology solutions with ISVs and Hyperscalers on the evolving tech areas.

She was involved in signing the TMForum Open API manifesto for Infosys as the first SI, ODA, and OpenAPI adoption across clients. She has contributed to TMForum OpenAPIs, ODA, Software Marketplace, Edge, 5G, technology reports, reference architectures, reference implementations, and white papers.

 

Women Empowerment in Tech Space

Priya always encourages women to pursue careers in technology and worked over the years to identify and groom passionate women in technology. Her team comprises strong women technologists who spearhead projects in emerging technologies and the number is growing. Around ten of her women team members have received either individual awards or industry innovation team awards in recognition of their technological contributions.

She has been instrumental in the creation of the Women in Technology forum at Infosys and a part of the Infosys DEI India Council Core team to strengthen women’s participation to pursue careers in technology. She acted as a resource person in the creation of NASSCOMs ‘Women Wizards Rule Technology (W2RT)’ initiative.

 

Awards and Recognitions

Gnanapriya has received the Outstanding Achievement Award under the Disruptor category of Global Women in Telco & Tech Awards of 2020 by capacitymedia.com. She has also received Individual Recognition Award in 2018 at Industry TM Forum for becoming the first woman leader from India to win this prestigious industry recognition.

She has received the ‘Best Technical Presentation’ award for ‘Next Generation De-centralized Energy Trading – Leveraging the power of Blockchain’ by the Society of Petroleum Engineers at Digitalisation: Driving Data to Decisions workshop in Bangalore, 2018.

She has played a key role in winning the four-phase 1 (for Remote Education, Smart Agri, Smart HealthCare, Remote Monitoring in Enterprise 4.0 and two-phase 2 awards (for Remote Education, Smart Agri) of 5G Hackathon driven by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communication, Government of India, and Prime Minister Digital India drive for Infosys. Infosys has won 13 Outstanding Catalyst Team Awards since 2016 in the TM Forum under her able leadership.

As part of the Infosys-IBM Call for Code 2020 challenge, Priya and her team won the award for their education solution to address the Digital Divide situation. She got recognition in Infosys Awards for Excellence (AFE) in the Individual and team contributions category for the ‘Technology Champion – 2018-19’, ‘Open-Source Drive 2015 – 16’, ‘Enterprise Cloud Ecosystem 2019-20’. As part of Infosys delivery leadership event Convergence 2020, she received recognition for the Technology & Legacy Modernization drive, ‘Spirit of Collaboration’. She also has received recognition from IEEE ComSoc Bangalore Chapter for her contributions in 2021.

 

Giving Back to Society

Priya has contributed to NASSCOM Pandemic Solution through the Infosys team and Industry Task Force Collaboration, deployed in Govt. of Telangana, Karnataka, 2020 and has received appreciation for her efforts from President and Vice President of NASSCOM and Infosys CEO.

She is a part of varied industry-academia collaborations (through IEEE, IETE, Alumni connect, and other forums) that helps the student community through various initiatives such as offering technology sessions, sharing opportunities in the industry, mentorship, guidance to women who had taken career breaks, and many more. She is a part of the 5G drive-by DOT that bridges academia, industry, and ministry to focus on 5G use cases across industries that fulfill the needs of the larger community as well.

Priya had been a part of multiple sessions conducted on “Use cases and technology solutions of 5G in various sectors” as part of Advanced Mobile Communications-5G conducted by NTIPRIT.

 

Future Goals

Both in the industry and technology front, Gnanapriya likes to continue to be a part of emerging technologies, new business models, and solutions. She will continue her contributions towards industry and technology focusing on Open Source-based disruptive solutions.

In line with Infosys’ ESG ambition 2030 with a vision to serve the development of people by shaping a future with meaningful opportunities, she would like to focus on TechforGood solutions that would enable opportunities to diverse people and leverage technology to solve larger social issues on governance, healthcare, and education.

She is passionate and focused to strengthen inclusive cultures by bringing in more women in technology and leadership roles in corporations.

Gnanapriya Chidambaranathan has been selected as the ‘Top 10 Women Tech Leaders India Awards 2022’ organized by RACE, REVA University in association with Terralogic Inc., for playing a key role in varied technology transformation, modernization, and Greenfield implementation initiatives.
