Pioneering the Future of Cyber Defence: RACE, REVA University’s AI-Driven SOC

In an era where cyber threats are evolving faster than ever, REVA Academy for Corporate Excellence, REVA University, stands at the forefront of academic innovation with one of India’s first university-based, enterprise-grade Security Operations Centres (SOC). Designed not just as a monitoring facility but as a cutting-edge learning and simulation environment, this SOC seamlessly integrates AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to prepare professionals for the real-world challenges of modern cyber defence.
Officially inaugurated by Mr. Vishal Salvi, a leading global cybersecurity expert, on 21st September 2021, this facility marks a significant milestone in the convergence of cybersecurity education, research, and real-time operations. Designed not just as a monitoring hub but as a cutting-edge simulation and training environment, this SOC seamlessly integrates AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to prepare professionals for the real-world challenges of modern cyber defence.
At the heart of this facility is a bold vision: to redefine how cybersecurity is taught, practised, and scaled—by merging hands-on training with the intelligence of automation and predictive modeling. As attackers become smarter, REVA’s SOC ensures our defenders stay smarter still.
This state-of-the-art, futuristic Security Operations Centre (SOC) at RACE, REVA University is built with advanced capabilities in Security Analytics, Extended Detection and Response (XDR), and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR). At RACE, REVA, we understand that traditional SIEM solutions alone are no longer sufficient to meet the complex demands of security operations in today’s AI-driven, hyper-digitized world.
Our modern Security Operations and Analytics Platform Architecture integrates Next-Gen SIEM, enriched security telemetry, and AI-powered analytics. This enables stakeholders to make more data-informed, real-time decisions. The facility is aligned with the evolving SOAPA (Security Operations and Analytics Platform Architecture) framework and incorporates cloud-native threat intelligence, automated investigation workflows, and proactive risk management powered by AI models.
This Security Operations Centre (SOC) includes the following key features:
- Network Detection and Response (NDR) for deep packet inspection, traffic flow analysis, and anomaly detection in encrypted traffic.
- AI-powered Incident Response Platforms that automatically prioritize alerts using behavioral analytics and MITRE ATT&CK mappings, allowing security analysts to respond faster.
- Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) tools, enabling real-time monitoring of host activity and incident triage.
- Machine Learning and Predictive Threat Modelling, built using advanced tools like Python, H2O, TensorFlow, and AutoML platforms to perform internal threat hunting and anomaly detection.
- Malware Analysis Sandboxes, including integration with threat research platforms such as Cuckoo Sandbox, to analyze zero-day attacks and polymorphic malware.
- Integrated Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs) that correlate internal telemetry with global threat feeds for contextual threat detection.
- Security Asset Management and Continuous Vulnerability Assessment using solutions like Tenable, Qualys, and Rapid7 to manage exposures and alert fatigue.
Hardware and Software Infrastructure:
The Security Operations Centre (SOC) at REVA University is equipped with:
- 4 High-definition Display Walls
- 12 All-in-One (AIO) Secure Workstations for analysts and instructors
- PollyWall Pro for dynamic dashboard and display orchestration
- Virtual SOC Lab Environments for real-world attack simulations
- Key Software and Tools:
- LogRhythm, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, and Elastic Security
- IBM QRadar, ArcSight, and SOAR platforms like Palo Alto Cortex XSOAR
- Open-source SIEMs like Wazuh/OSSEC
- Data science and automation tools: Python, R, H2O.ai, Jupyter, and GitHub Copilot
Operations of the SOC:
The primary objective of this SOC is to serve as a Training and Simulation SOC for corporate participants enrolled in Cybersecurity programs offered by REVA Academy for Corporate Excellence. This includes executive education, certification programs, and M.Tech in Cybersecurity.
The SOC also facilitates real-time monitoring of internal IT infrastructure and cloud workloads across RACE, REVA University, supporting hybrid environments. The facility is built and managed by the Cybersecurity and AI research scholars under the expert guidance of Sandeep Vijayaraghavan, Chief Mentor, Cybersecurity and other industry mentors of REVA Academy for Corporate Excellence, REVA University.
This cutting-edge SOC is not only a platform for skill development but also a living lab for advanced cybersecurity operations, threat analysis, and automated defence strategies.
Way Forward
With the rise of AI-driven cyber defense, incident response is no longer a reactive process—AI now plays a central role in predicting, prioritizing, and even autonomously mitigating threats before they escalate. From automated playbooks to real-time threat intelligence correlation and behavioral analytics, artificial intelligence is transforming the SOC landscape globally. At REVA Academy for Corporate Excellence (RACE), we are at the forefront of this transformation, developing advanced cybersecurity capabilities that blend AI, machine learning, and threat analytics into hands-on training and research. Our programs are designed to equip the next generation of cybersecurity professionals with the skills to lead intelligent, automated, and resilient defense operations in a rapidly evolving digital world.
