Vidya Hungud, Executive Director-JPMorgan Chase is not only a woman in tech, but also an author, keynote speaker, and a mentor with 19 years of experience in entailing SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. Vidya is currently heading the engineering team of AI Acceleration in India with the mission of scaling Financial Services using AI-driven trust.

Inspirational Leadership

Vidya has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science with Client Server Computing as her major from San Jose State University, CA, USA. She has worked in Silicon Valley in a start-up Software Tree, Sun Microsystems, and Intuit for 5+ years.

She is a passionate technologist at heart and an authentic customer-obsessed leader, strategist by profession. Vidya loves to work with teams by imbibing a growth mindset, collaborating with cross-business units to innovate, and unleashing to bring their best self to deliver high NPS products to local/global market and iteratively learn to get better at the product, process, people, and tools.

She stands out in her servant leadership and compassionate style with strong business acumen that has helped different business units to get double-digit growth YoY, transform several verticals to Agile, various teams to onboard with CDI/D4D (Intuit) principles, and led a digital transformation journey for Jio.

Vidya has never shied away from trying new things like writing a tech book, going feet on the street to meet farmers (Intuit), to meet hardware vendors, PCB designing (Jio), transitioning from MNC to local, changing from Dev to QE to SRE to Dev, switching gears from Java/J2EE tech stack to C# .NET to Android to Microservices to cloud to Edge computing, and now to AI/ML at PMC.

Vidya has helped the Reliance Jio team in its cloud journey as part of Digital transformation and channelized engineering effort to achieve a massive scale of onboarding 7 customers every second, moving up the needle to 380 million + customers. She has helped the Reliance Jio team in the cloud journey, worked on TurboTax’s first e-file launch from San Diego, led QuickBooks online, built and led the Android team, and was involved in increasing the play store rating.

Awards and Recognitions

She has bagged the Best in India Award in Edge Computing Innovation and she is also the recipient of Bangalore Tech Icon 2021 award by IEEE.

Vidya wears multiple hats such as co-author of the “Digital Twin – Empowering Edge Devices”, and participates as a keynote speaker, and panelist in many tech conferences including the IEEE International Women in Engineering Conference. She has coached a few startups at IIMB NSRCEL.

Involvement in Social Causes

She is also involved in NGO activities and teaches “Sanskrit”, one of the oldest languages to kids and adults in a non-profit-organization whenever her time permits. Vidya makes time to pay forward by mentoring in ‘Her Second Innings’ to make women financially independent.

Envisaging the Future

Vidya believes that learning and teaching is continuous process. Hence, she will continue learning new technologies in the corporate world and pay attention to coaching and mentoring mid to senior women employees. Apart from that, she would like to inspire people to enjoy and experience every bit of life along with their careers.
